About Me

Dr. Bassler grew up in Southern California. She received her BS in Physiology from the University of California, Davis in 1990. She graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1994 and completed her training at the Santa Monica-UCLA Family Practice Residency Program in 1997.

After residency Dr. Bassler joined the faculty of the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, attaining the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. At the University of Michigan she worked alongside other faculty at a busy family medicine clinic, gave lectures, wrote a paper 1 , taught medical students and residents and delivered over 200 infants. During her years at the University of Michigan Dr. Bassler refined her skills at providing efficient and effective medical care.

In 2003, Dr. Bassler relocated to Mammoth Lakes where she worked at Mammoth Hospital’s Sierra Park Clinics until 2015. She opened her private practice in 2016 but remains on the Mammoth Hospital Medical Staff.

Dr. Bassler is married to Stephen Swisher, MD, whom she met in medical school. Dr. Swisher is her practice administrator but is not currently seeing patients in her office. He is a retired emergency physician.

Dr. Bassler and Dr. Swisher have two children, Jack and Ana. Her brother, David Bassler, MD, is an emergency physician at Mammoth Hospital.

In her free time Dr. Bassler enjoys running, hiking, yoga, triathlons and nordic skiing. She completed her first Ironman in June, 2015 and her second in August, 2016. She plans to continue competing with her 3 brothers and 2 sisters in marathons and triathlons.
